On May 3, the media reported that Pakistani doctors were suspected of using contaminated syringes, resulting in at least 90 people infected with AIDS, of which about 65 children. A new AIDS epidemic broke out in a southern part of Pakistan, and nearly 400 people were diagnosed with HIV in less than two weeks. Since 2010, the HIV infection rate in Pakistan has increased by 57%, making it the second largest country in the Asia-Pacific region. They say that about 43,000 of the AIDS cases diagnosed in Pakistan are women.
